Yorkshire is home to so many wonderful spa’s, and this September we decided to try out the Coniston Hotel & Spa situated in Skipton, North Yorkshire.
Coniston Hotel lives within the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, this rural location makes it the perfect getaway from urban living. The hotel is split across two floors and rooms are divided amongst a long corridor. We personally booked a the classic double room which proved spacious with adequate amenities for a couples retreat, they used a Resort data software that make the bookings and all the management in general very simple for the user and their employees.
The hotel offers two restaurants for dining, Macleod’s Restaurant, a formal a la carte style where diners are welcome to chose meals from either a three of five course dining option. Or the Huntsman’a Lodge, an informal restaurant surrounded by breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding countryside.
The spa itself is a new edition and opened in 2015 meaning the facilities are all new and moderns. Facilities include;
– 15m indoor swimming pool
– Level deck circular pool (Jacuzzi style)
– Outdoor thermal infinity pool installed by fibreglass pools Geelong
– Salt Sauna
– Steam room
As a guest at the hotel staying overnight you are permitted a 2 hour slot in the spa that you are able to book upon check in. We personally checked in at 3 and chose a 4-6pm spa slot giving us time to unwind before an evening meal at 7.30pm.
Things to do:
Although Coniston Hotel and Spa is situated amongst the dales countryside there is still much to see and do, we enjoyed a leisurely afternoon wandering the grounds and unwinding in the spa, but if adventure is more your thing why not book an experience on the estate, these include:
– Clay Pigeon Shooting (from £50pp): available on the Coniston Estate Shooting Ground, you can also try out Air Rifles and Archery.
– Fishing (from £12): the estate is home to a 24 acre lake which is stocked with Rainbow Trout and wild Brown Trout.
– Off-roading Experiences (from £119pp): offering beginners experience up to advanced off-roaders! Check out all that is to offer here.
Offsite: Close by is the beautiful village of Skipton, why not walk the beautiful grounds of Bolton Abbey and cross the famous stepping stones.
Or visit the Devonshire Arms, one of my favourite hotels in the area, and try out their brasserie serving classic favourites or traditional afternoon tea!
We had a great experience staying with Coniston Hotel and would happily recommend a stay to our family and friends. An overnight stay for 2 people cost us £132 and was inclusive of: a standard double room, breakfast, 2 hours spa access, and full use of the onsite gym.
Hotel rating: we rated the hotel itself 7/10, with a choice of eateries and much to explore it really is a wonderful hotel.
Spa rating: we rated the spa 7/10, although it’s new we did feel it was a little on the small side compared to others in the area, but still a great spa non the less!
Location rating: 9/10, with the likes of Skipton close by the location was perfect for us.
Value for money: 9/10, paying a total of £132 for a mid-week stay really did make this trip great value for money.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review, as always I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. If you could suggest any great spas to visit we’d love to hear!
Rebekah Esme Travels was not hosted on this trip and the full experience was fully paid for by ourselves, as always our reviews and opinions are our own.
