If your an avid Star Wars fan, you’d probably aware that the travelling VR experience The VOID came to London’s Westfield shopping centre earlier this year. What you probably don’t know is that it’s last few days fell when our team were in London visiting an exhibition ?.
I’m not going to pretend to know much about Star Wars, I’ve seen the films once or twice and that’s where it ends. However a few people with me were big fans. Tickets were sold out with only a small number available on the door, through some impressive skills we managed to talk our way into 5 tickets!
Groups are limited to 4 members, you start the experience by entering a dark cinema room where by the narrator explains the back story, moving out you of the room you are each provided with a wireless backpack and VR headset to provide the visuals. Once set up you are guided, one group at a time, inside the experience. Immediately you experience an incredible sense of presence and immersion, black wall dividers separate compartments where by in each you tackle the different fates of a stormtrooper.
Absolutely everything comes to life, you see your group, yourself and your every movement as a stormtrooper, both visual and audio are aligned with motion and heat, the game is brought to life!
We all left the experience absolutely buzzing with joy, it brought out the inner child in us all. Star Wars fan or not it really doesn’t matter, the experience is out of this world, and beyond anything I’ve ever experienced before. If you ever get a chance to experience The VOID don’t hesitate, you won’t regret it!
Time: 15-20 inside the experience / allow 30 for setup.
